Central School declared the Mary Poppins School of Maryborough
163rd Birthday celebrations and the launch of the 2025 Mary Poppins Literary Competition.
The brilliantly inventive Queenie, from Caricature Queen has created a wonderful new image of the world’s most famous nanny for Mary Inc’s 2025 Mary Poppins Literary Competition.
The fresh image brings new life to a character created more than 90 years ago by Maryborough-born writer, Pamela Travers and adorns the posters promoting the competition as well as the entry forms.
Young Fraser Coast writers have a chance to win prizes totalling around $2000 for poems and short stories. Pop into any Fraser Coast Regional Council library to pick up an entry form or scan the QR code. Thank you Queenie for your wonderful creativity.
The competition was launched at Central School which was declared the Mary Poppins School of Maryborough during its 163rd birthday celebrations this week, much to the delight of Principal Rebecca Dickens, staff, students and parents.
Entries for the 2025 Mary Poppins Literary Competition close on August 29th. A total of $2000 of cash prizes is on offer for Fraser Coast students between Grades 3 to 12.
Mary Inc. acknowledges the support and sponsorship of the Fraser Coast Regional Council, State Library of Queensland and the Cherry Tree Foundation London.
