Maryborough’s art scene is thriving like never before with four distinctive galleries and an art supplies and framing shop. Streets are spiced with art in paintings, sculptures and architecture.

In the historic precinct between Kent and Wharf Street, the superb Gatakers Artspace and the nearby Maryborough Regional Art Society are crucibles for creativity crackling through the historic precincts.

Gatakers Artspace is a mecca for art lovers from far afield, set in a spacious former warehouse that creates a special ambience. Four large galleries house constantly changing exhibitions of all forms of brilliant art.

Across Wharf Street the historic Customs House, famed for its Arts and Craft architecture, is the new home for the Maryborough Regional Art Society, also open seven days a week (9am to 4pm, 9am to 1pm weekends). At 345 Kent Street you will find Kent Street Studio open 9am to 4pm Wednesday to Saturday. Master artist and arts educator Lee-Ann Handley has created a gallery, photography studio and workshop space teaching varied techniques for all skill levels and ages. https://kentstreetstudio.net/

At 92 Ellena Street is Jinx Art Gallery, a unique assemblage of art created by Nora Hanasy. It is a little tourist gem with gifts, books, tuition amid powerful statements of ‘art from waste’, other out-of-the-box artistic pearls. Wide Bay Art Gallery at 228 Adelaide Street has framing, art supplies, local art works for sale and other services, arts and crafts can also be found at Bottlebrush Crafts, 30 Ferry Street near the Lamington Bridge.
